Guiding Children Successfully Program Descriptions

Guiding Children SuccessfullyEffective Motivation - GCS#1

This program helps parents, educators, home-schoolers, and child care providers to teach children self-motivation. It focuses on developing self-motivation through authoritative guidance. It stresses the role of knowledge, support, and compassion.

Guiding Children With Love and Good Sense - GCS#2

Dr. Wally focuses on teaching adults loving ways to guide children. This program emphasizes scaffolding that is proactive and cooperative. Effective guides help children find answers within themselves.

Teachers and Parents Working Together - GCS#3

Because teachers and parents are some of the most important people in children's lives, this episode focuses on methods for teachers, parents and other adults who care about children to work together to support children. It provides teamwork strategies to help teachers and parents understand and support each other.

Teaching Children Responsibility - GCS#4

This program emphasizes that adults can teach children responsibility through their own example and through effective teaching. Dr. Wally advises adults to take responsibility for their mistakes, provide children with meaningful responsibility, encourage children to serve others and support them as they learn the skills and attitudes of responsibility.

Helping Children Use Their Gifts - GCS#5

There are important discoveries that take children beyond the dated recommendations of the self-esteem movement. Adults are encouraged to teach children that every person has a gift, no one has every gift, and that we can use our gifts to serve others. Children are more likely to be effective when they use sensible ideas about their gifts and working with others.

Raising Children to be Good People - GCS#6

Psychologists and developmentalists call it moral development. Many people call it raising good children. There are sensible processes to cultivate that outcome: strong relationships, specific teaching, and involvement in service.

Strengthening Couple Relationships - GCS#7

Children benefit from seeing strong couple relationships. While children in many different family situations can grow up to be healthy people, we want to prepare children for involvement in committed, caring adult relationships.

Managing Anger and Stress - GCS#8

All people face stress and anger as part of their lives. This program teaches ways that adults can better manage their stress and anger while also teaching children how to more effectively manage their lives.

Are Children Angels, Devils, or Clay? Working with Human Nature - GCS#9

The assumptions people make about human nature have important effects on how they treat children. When we react to certain children as if they were fundamentally bad, we make it more likely that they will be bad. There are sensible ways to deal with misbehavior without labeling children.

Languages of Love: More than Saying "I Love You" - GCS#10

When we want to communicate affection to children, sometimes we simply rely on trite phrases. The key to effective nurturing is to communicate affection in the way that helps each child feel valued and supported. This program will talk about different languages of love - how to discover them and how to use them.

Choosing Quality Child Care - GCS#11

We all want our children to receive the best care possible. Learn what characteristics to look for when choosing quality child care for your child. Trying to decide between varieties of child care options can be an overwhelming challenge. This program will share helpful tips on how to make the best choice for your little one.

Enjoying Life With Children - GCS#12

Too often we rush around to get everything done and our children get what’s left of us at the end of the day. Learn how to incorporate family time in your hectic schedule. Find out how to make sure the amount of time you do have with your child is quality time.
