Tips from Marriage Gardeners

Drawing of a couple Fred and Patricia Kulbeth (married 56 years)

We’ve always done things together. We didn’t have a lot of money but we had lots of good times. We always eat together, pray together, and serve together.

People have to enjoy their partner for their gifts and abilities rather than look for their faults.

It’s important to respond to the needs of your spouse. We may be tired and not feel like taking care of each other, but we give it all we’ve got.

Drawing of a couple Marlin and Lorna Jones (married 8 years)

The single most influential thing in our relationship that keeps us together and focused is our commitment to our family. When things get rough between us we remember our family and we get on track. To keep our relationship strong we laugh at ourselves, each other, and our situations.

We make time at least once a week to go for a walk or a bike ride to a nearby park. We also set aside one evening each week to talk and relax together. And the two of us make time for each other after we have put the children to bed.
