Arkansas AgrAbility Project
AgrAbility is a national project funded through the USDA that helps
provide education and assistance to farmers and agricultural workers who are
restricted in their ability to be successful in production agriculture because
of a limiting health condition. Health conditions can be work related or
non-work related, permanent or temporary, or related to an accident or chronic
disease.
What services does AgrAbility provide?
-
On-site assessments of the agricultural worksite and/or home to
identify the barriers that hinder productivity and/or independence
-
Recommendations for appropriate assistive technology (equipment or
tool modification), modified working and/or living practices, or other possible
solutions to overcome the identified barriers
-
Referrals to service providers for potential assistance specific to
the determined needs
-
Non-formal education that addresses reducing the risk of developing
preventable health conditions or minimizing the obstacles of current health
conditions
- Sound Ideas addresses noise-induced hearing loss
- Endless Gardening: How to garden to reduce the risk of developing arthritis,
how to protect your skin, and how to reduce lower back strain. Also, how to
make gardening more accessible. i.e., raised beds
