Nutrition Tips
Get More Energy!

Is it a struggle to get through your day and still have energy to do things at night? If you said 'yes', then it might help to change what you eat! A balanced diet is one of the most important factors to having a healthy, energetic lifestyle.

There is so much information on what to eat in the media - do you become confused on what are healthy choices? One thing is for certain, you can never go wrong by using the Food Guide Pyramid as a guide! Build your diet on a variety of plant foods, like whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Add low-fat dairy products and low-fat choices from the meat group every day. Finally, enjoy fats and sweets occasionally.

Another important part of increasing your energy is to be physically active every day. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity most or all days of the week. Examples of ways to be active include walking, bicycling, swimming, hiking skiing and aerobics. Other examples are cleaning your house, raking leaves, gardening or mowing the lawn with a push mower. Whichever activity you choose, make it something you enjoy!
